Work Day at Mary's

It's been a busy time for me since I found out that my house closing is the end of July. Every day has been preparations for the move, searching for a house (none found yet), and getting things done. I've found a house I like, but I'm not sold on the location. There's one in a wonderful location, but leaves much to be desired. Ah well.

Over the weekend I work both days at Waupaca's Strawberry Fest, earning money for the Lioness Club and for the Curling Club. On Sunday, we had the Lion's Fly-In Breakfast, and I worked there too. Lot's of volunteer hours. Congratulations to Mom and to Holly, both winners in the Lioness Raffle. Way to go!!

This afternoon my golfing friends, Barb Krumrai, Amber Petersen, Barb Kelly and Marg Nelson, all came out for the entire afternoon and helped me pack and haul boxes out into the garage. We got a lot done, then had a great swim in the lake, some good libations and a terrific picnic supper. It turned out to be a great day despite the heat and so wonderful to get a good start on my packing. It's starting to look empty around here already.

Unfortunately, my cell phone went for a swim too. EEEKKKK!! Can't believe I did that. I'm always so careful. It's drying, but I'm not holding out much hope for it. What a bummer. I hope they are able to at least save my contact list. And here I was thinking about giving up my land line.

Tomorrow will be more house hunting, ladies league in the morning, and always more strawberries to pick. This heat is really making it a struggle to keep up in the garden. Seems like the weeds just love it.

Mom and Dad married 61 years

Congratulations to Lewis and Alice Hansen Yesterday I tried to put in a note on Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary, but somehow blew it. At any rate, I'm excited for them and amazed. They are so strong and doing so well. We had a light meal and cards with Susie and Harley to celebrate. And, this weekend is Father's Day (for the Grand Daddy of our clan). Dad's cataract surgery went well and he's seeing well from his "new eye". He'll have the other one done on July 27th, after returning from their sojourn to Phoenix. Oh, I hope they have a ball there and I envy them the chance to go.

House has sold

Well, we accepted an offer on the house so things are happening. I haven't found anything I'd like to move in to and have to be out of here by the end of July, so things are a bit up in the air right now, but I'm moving along. I've truly loved this home, my gardens and flower beds and waking each morning at High Meadow.

Yesterday, Holly helped me clean out the garage attic. It's shocking how much junk one accumulates. But, since my back has been bad, I truly appreciated her help. Good job done.

The strawberries are starting - big and juicy and the raspberries are just thick on the canes. They won't be ready to pick for awhile though. This weekend I'll be working at Waupaca's Strawberry fest as well as the Father's Day Fly-In Pancake Breakfast, so it will be busy, but fun.

I'm trying something new

I've decided to start a blog of my own - like I haven't anything else to do right now. Maybe, though, it will help me to keep people informed on where I am and what I'm doing. This is just my "starter" page. "See" you later.
