I finally bought a house

MLS ID #20904473

After looking at what seemed like 100 houses in the last 8 months, I've finally decided on one in town. I just couldn't find anything in the country that offered what I am looking for. The house is at 534 Demerest and was built by my old middle school principal and his wife, my 4th and 7th grade teacher. It's never had kids living in it and is in wonderful shape. The house is the perfect size and being in town will offer some advantages that I don't have in the country, though it will take me some time, I'm sure, to adjust to the close neighbors, traffic and noise. It has a very nice back yard, however, and the kitchen and bathrooms are all remodeled. It will suit me just fine for now.

Though I've been steadily packing, I'll have to attack that process in earnest, as my closing date on both houses is July 31st. Wonderful and super strong sister, Holly, has helped me several times already, and I've not turned down other friends when they've kindly offered their hand. In fact, I'll soon have to go out begging for moving help - probably for August 1st. Cari and Rob will be here - what a relief.

This weekend I took time off to enjoy the 4th of July in La Crosse with Cari and family. I watched her run in the Cheleda (sp) Classic, got in lots of quality grandchildren time at home and at RiverFest, ate too much at the celebration and watched the amazing fireworks display in awe. Unfortunately, despite that I took so much along with me, I forgot my camera and am waiting now to get copies of some of the fun shots Cari and Rob took with theirs. The kids were a blast!

I was able to haul their canoe back to them and brought the covered trailer back here for my use, now that I have my new hitch on my Taurus. I call it my pickup, as all I ever seem to use it for is hauling things.

Once I get settled, we'll have to have a big party to christen the new place.

  1. It's a grand little house and I can't wait to see your "Mary-ness" take it over!
Busy month ahead - I'll be around....
